The Australian Scooter Federation (ASF) was conceived in 2005 by the importers and distributors of motor scooters with the mission statement “To promote scootering in Australia as eco-friendly, practical, pleasurable , safe and accessible .A practical way of life.”
ASF is an incorporated group that is working very closely with the government and within the industry to develop and regulate a code of conduct. The federation is also working to join forces in promoting safe and professional scootering.
ASF has been formed with the rider in mind to maximize scooter riding experiences.
Are the road laws adequate, is there enough parking, should tolls be looked at , would car drivers benefit from extra training , is the product being distributed of a high quality ?
Members are expected to adopt the standard or practice developed by the FCAI (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries) and maintain strict guidelines with their suppliers regarding quality of the scooters they are selling and ethical behavior.
Scooter use is growing at an extraordinary rate each year , with petrol prices , congestion , parking and city living all contributing to the switch from other modes of transport and overcoming traffic woes . ASF will continue to work closely with all concerned organizations to promote the positiveness and fun of riding a motor scooter !
