ASF General Info NSW Scooter Licence - further explanation Diagrams and further explanation to clarify some perceived confusion regarding NSW's motorcycle and scooter licence requirements HART If you ride a scooter under 160cc, you can simply book for and pass the (Motorcycle Operators Skills Test) MOST and bypass the Pre-provisional course, after which your licence is restricted to auto under 160cc.
If you pass both the Pre-provisional course and MOST in an automatic scooter, you can ride any LAMS approved automatic scooter. You do not need a manual motorcycle licence.
The 160cc restriction is a provisional licensing restriction when the full training program has not been completed, it does not effect the Learner Licence.
In the future, to ride a manual motorcycle, you can simply go back and do the Pre-provisional course and pass the MOST on a manual bike. You do not need to go back to a manual Pre-learner course.
Please see attached picture which may help explain the licence scheme better.
